for a720 firmware update file extension is "fi2", format remains unknown.
Can any reverse engineering be farmed out? Edit
I'm thinking of buying an SX100 (which I imagine uses DRYOS), and I'd like to do what I can to help with porting. But I know nothing about CHDK and I think there would be a significant ramp-up time before I could get started. I would, in essence, have to reverse engineer CHDK from the source code and random forum postings before I would even know what to look for in the firmware.
Are there any self-contained tasks someone like me could do without needing to understand CHDK? For example, finding an entry point in the A720 firmware that does such-and-such when called? If so, I think adding a list to the wiki might be a good use of the veteran developers' time — it would make it easier for new people to help out. Redacted 20:51, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
