[edit] CHDK specialities
- With CHDK the camera always starts in playback mode; press (or half press) the Shutter once or just hold POWER for ~2 seconds for record mode
- Zebra is not working on this camera
- As on other newer cameras with 12 bit sensors, the 'Custom curves' feature do not work on the Ixus 980/SD 990
- Due to the 720 pixel bitmap width (the standard grids are just made for a 320 pixel display), this camera needs modified Grids
- Edge overlay does not work on this camera (also due to the 720 pixel display)
- Pressing the shutter quickly with overrides enabled may result in incorrect white balance. It may also cause issues if the flash is automatically triggered
- Intermittent RAW: if you press the shutter quickly (or maybe some other factor), RAW/DNG files may not be saved. (Note by Pat: I can confirm the intermittent nature of the RAW/DNG capture. However, the failure to capture DNG seems to occur only when the shutter is pressed quickly. If you half-press the shutter first to obtain focus -- as is the standard procedure with digital cameras -- the Raw/DNG is always saved.)
