From CHDK Wiki
Following the example of the A530 page, everything that might be useful for a port of CHDK to A540 should be posted here.

[edit] Firmware info
As in the A530 case, the ver.req file works as well in this model. It shows the following:
Canon PowerShot A540 P-ID:311B PAL Firmware Ver GM1.00B No error Jan 31 2006 11:02:45
Pressing DISP returns:
Adj Ver.002.002
Note that the platform ID is almost the same as the S3 IS model: 311B vs 311A.
The vers.req file works, too.
[edit] Firmware dump available
On the http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Porting_the_CHDK page Eric has sucessfully downloaded the firmware already. I just copy the talk here: The firmware is available at http://www.datenschleuder.eu/get_00dffa1b5da74c038e1d548055d37531.html and the password is "a504". You can download that at http://rapidshare.com/files/70092983/ps_a540_100B.7z.html as well.
[edit] An initial CHDK build (very beta)
There is already an inital porting to A540. I got a source code from GrAnd, which was almost ready. I fixed it a little bit and compiled it. There are some values which are possibly wrong, still, I could use the image. (It is almost sure, that video is not working)
The source is here: http://www.zshare.net/download/502108238be28d/ And the binaries are here: http://www.zshare.net/download/5021240ec3e14c/
[edit] Bugs in "initial"
- The clock isn't shown properly: the right number of the minutes isn't in the screen.
- An activated grid (Golden ratio) is also shown when the original Conaon menu is open
- Make bootable doesn't work
[edit] a540 Chdk Port beta 0.5
Here is a new beta-port based on the old build and the last allbest-fingalo release.
Many parameters are fixed.
Video, USB and autoboot should work. Display now shows the right zoom-values.

[edit] Bugs in beta 0.5
- The clock isn't shown properly: the right number of the minutes isn't in the screen.
- Sorry, i can't confirm that. On my a540 the minutes are shown properly.
- You are both right. The initial value was too way right on my A540.
- But after moving left using the OSD Layout Editor all digits are readable.
- So it seems to be a cosmetic issue not an error.
